Policy Discussion: Ties in the Post Season
Please use this thread to discuss ways to break a tie in the post season. I'll start with #1:
1. If one of your players wins that week's tourney, your team is given a -3 point bonus.

I think depth should be rewarded over picking the winner. If you have 4 guys make the cut but you're still tied because the other guy picked the winner but had 4 guys miss the cut then the guy with 4 made cuts should go forward. Or we can just go to penalty kicks...

I should be getting hazard pay for all the catfights I've had to break up this week... sheesh.
How about something completely random (sort of like penalty kicks) like total # of birdies among your players (includes all starters)?

FYI... I just ran the birdie tiebreaker against the AC/Jeff tie from last week and Jeff won 39 to 38.
Jeff would have won with Aaron's suggestion (JJ Henry was the highest scorer).
Aaron would have won with Geo's suggestion - he had three guys make the cut to one for Jeff.

What is a -3 point bonus? Is that the same as losing three points or is that a misplaced hyphen?
As for the tiebreaker, I like Aaron's point about the highest placing player. Then, if the players are tied with two players who tie at a position, it should be best score for the week. If still tied, then go to a stat like GIR.
Also, depth is already a MAJOR factor in the wins and losses because people are fielding teams without reserves, playing with only one player and the matches have often been 3 on 2's. So no more performance tied to that.

Maybe the tie breaker should go to the person who had the better regular season ranking? That should count for something instead of some convulted algorthim where GIR * sand save - birdies / driving distance. Keep it simple...just like penalty kicks (and yes I have watched some World Cup with other expats...)
