PGA/PGL Wild Card Wrap Up
Here's a summary of last week's matches.
Official Matches:
Choi's Chums (David) destroyed Arjun's Army (Jeff) - 20 to 11
This one was essentially over before the weekend, with David's entire team making the cut and Jeff hanging on by a thread with just three players still alive. But Lefty never really got it going and Nathan Green was left to wonder how he went from a "never been" to a "need to be" overnight, but that's been Jeff's MO all season. In a PGL first, everyone on Choi's Chums (starters and reserves) made the cut at the PGA. In fact, his reserves outscored his starters (-27 to -20). I have to admit I'm a little nervous about my upcoming matchup vs. CC's in the semi's...
Tommy's Guns (Rick) beat The Leopards (Hugh) 1 to 24
This was another yawner, with only Daniel Chopra surviving the cut for The Leopards. Tommy's Guns relied on a revival of sorts from David Toms and Chris DiMarco (two big disappointments throughout the season) to vault his team into the semi-finals. Look for TG to be dismantled by the juggernaut that is Long John Holmes.
Unsanctioned Contests:
Au Pair Posse (Jim) trounced Long John Holmes (Aaron) -40 to 3
You Take Drugs Danny? (Jon) lost to Men With Yellow Hats (Geo) 22 to -5
The loss gives Jon the victory in the Battle of the Basement. Congrats to Jon for securing last place with another inept performance from his band of 1995 All Stars. There's always next year.
Moving on to the Semi-Finals...
Long John Holmes (1) vs. Tommy's Guns (4)
and
Au Pair Posse (2) vs. Choi's Chums (3)
I also encourage an informal match to determine 5th/6th place between:
Arjun's Army vs. The Leopards
Please post your lineups for this week in the comments section of this thread. The field for the Bridgestone Invitational can be found here.
Here's the latest spreadsheet (Jeff willing).
