2006 Masters Odds Released

Here are the odds for next week's Masters Tournament. Click on the title for the complete article. How many of your players are listed? BTW... I'm shorting Davis Love III after what happened at the TPC. I'd be surprised if he made it past day one let alone won the tourney. Also, Arron Oberholser is going to win the Par 3 Contest, which is exactly why he won't crack my starters list for the real tournament.

Add/Drop Info - 3/28/06

Not as much activity on the add/drop front after week one as I thought there would be. Maybe you all forgot? Anyhow, Hugh wisely stepped in and dumped Tag Ridings in favor of David Duval (a necessary move, really... he had only four guys in The Masters before adding the Big D to his team). I also got in the game (verified by Jeff via email at 10:59am) by dropping Clemson alum Jonathan Byrd and picking up John Rollins.

There are no games this weekend (get warmed up for The Masters). The next add/drop period ends next Tuesday at noon ET.

The Masters Field is Rounding Out

It looks like Ames is in and Villegas is out. Ames will cut short his family vacation at Disney to walk Augusta for the first time. Personally, I was feeling pretty good about myself on Sunday afternoon when Ames suggested he might not play at Augusta because he had a planned family vacation... someone on the planet is more whipped than me!

Thongchai Jaidee from Thailand made it in and he'll probably finish in the top ten (you should pick him up Jon). Aaron Oberholser and Rory Sabbatini also made it in based on their landing in the top ten in money and top 50 in rankings.

To Start or Not to Start? - Week One Review

Ultimately, every owner was faced with this question and it seems like one that will haunt us all one week or another. This week's winner is David, who chose to start both Tim Herron and Lucas Glover over Sergio Garcia. A questionable call that ultimately cost him in the closest game of the week... he was narrowly edged by four strokes at the hands of Jon's merry band of misfits. Just a note about Jon (that's him in the yellow helmet): I'm not buying his explanation that he had the wrong sheet in his hands on draft day. He's too savvy for that and must know something about Monty to have picked him in the second round. We haven't seen the last of this character. I'm warning you now.

Based on his performance over the last few years, Aaron enters the year as the odds on favorite and true to form his team obliterated Rick's "let's just roll over and play dead" team. As I documented on Friday, Rick becomes the first owner to have zero starters playing on the weekend, an accomplishment I'm sure we'll see again before year end.

In my game with George it all came down to Davis Love III throwing up all over himself coming down the stretch on Friday. I'm sure he had a nice weekend after that performance. Neither of us tore it up, with only three players playing on the weekend (combined) and George and I exchanged emails that said stuff like "what happens if none of our players make the cut?" Nice.

Jeff came out smoking and Hugh's team fell off the pace with Vijay leading the collapse. Have you ever seen so many of the game's elite players stumble so badly on Sunday? Of course, when you start Brett Quigley and Daniel Chopra something's bound to go wrong... even if you're from Rhode Island! BTW... The Official State Drink of Rhode Island is coffee milk, a beverage created by mixing milk with coffee syrup. But enough about Hugh...

Tomorrow is the first day to add/drop players, so if you'd like to upgrade your team, send me an email by tomorrow (Tuesday) at noon. Aaron already owns Stephen Ames so don't even think about it.

Arjun you glad you didn't pick Davis?

Just giving a shout out to the masses to thank you all for contributing to what will soon by my pot.

Jim just notified me that I've been in the lead every week of this league's existence.

Cheers,

Jeff

Get on the Phantasy Bandwagon!!

If there's one thing that freaks me out about technology, it’s the ability for anyone with enough money to create emails, Web sites and Weblogs.

Don’t know what a Weblog is? It’s a journal of sorts that is accessible to the whole wired world. It can be used for self promotion – see http://www.bowlofcheese.com - or it can be used to motivate yourself to do something like lose weight or show off your baby – see http://www.tomandjaime.com/blog - or it can even be used to bring people together.

The last example is what Jim has set up here and I think it’s a magnificent use of technology.

Let’s use this to trash talk, to share trade talks and to post our updates. That way everyone can see what’s going on instead of following an email chain-letter that talks about teabagging each other and getting kicked in the nuts.
