Week #10 Wrap Up: The Return of Lefty 1.0

Game of the Week:
Long John Holmes TIED The Au Pair Posse (72 to 72)
Tiger took a siesta on his return trip to competitive golf and this one stayed tight all the way down to a missed five footer by Furyk on #18 in the final round. LJH is winless over the last two games, but they still clinched a playoff berth with the tie this week.

Other Games:
Arjun's Army walked all over Choi's Chums (74 to 116)
Men with Yellow Hats g'dayed Tommy's Guns to death (73 to 83)
You take drugs, Danny? tranquilized The Leopards (88 to 105)

Enjoy the week off! Next add/drop period ends at 12 noon on 6/27.

Here's the latest spreadsheet (Jeff willing).

Week #9 Wrap Up

The GOW actually happened in the "other games" when it started to look like You Take Drugs Danny? could topple Long John Holmes on Friday afternoon. By the end of the day is was clearly the end of Aaron's impressive first half run, with only Adam Scott left to fight on the weekend.

Game of the Week 1:
You take drugs, Danny? over Long John Holmes (27 to 60)
Long John Holmes took a tumble and erased an impressive cumulative stroke total with one abysmal week. Several of Jon's guys were flirting with the cut line, but they all came through, adding insult to injury when Fred Couples blew up on Sunday and handed Aaron the second worst stroke total in the history of the PGL (Rick's week one 80 firmly holds that title).

Game of the Week 2:
The Au Pair Posse over Choi's Chums (16 to 31)
This one turned into another ho-hum victory for The APP. With Sergio on the DL and the rest of the Chums struggling to get under par, it ballooned into a 15 stroke margin of victory on Sunday afternoon. Bragging rights move to the elder statesman in the family for a month or so.

Other Games:
Men with Yellow Hats vs Arjun's Army (12 to 36)
Shouldn't there be a mandate for Jeff to change his team name? How about Phil's Platoon?

The Leopards vs Tommy's Guns (-7 to 24)
Hugh got back to his winning ways after four straight weeks of defeat. Quigley is starting to look like a first round draft pick for 2007, which may just be the spark The Leopards need for a second half run.

Please get add/drop requests in by Tuesday at noon (email me) and I'll confirm pick ups asap so you can get in your picks for The US Open.

Other Games:
Choi's Chums vs. Arjun's Army
Men with Yellow Hats vs. Tommy's Guns

Upset Brewing at Barclays?

It's not the game of the week, but it just may be the upset of the year in the making. This is the classic "undefeated vs doormat" matchup. It's still too early to tell, but it looks as if the might may fall.

Long John Holmes

Jim Furyk: DNP
Adam Scott: -5 (in the hunt)
Chad Campbell: +9 (missed the cut)
Charley Hoffman: +2 after 7 holes (flirting with the cut line)
Vaughn Taylor: +4 (missed the cut)
R - Carl Pettersson: +3 (missed the cut)

You Take Drugs Danny?
Calcavechia: +1 after 10 holes (flirting with the cut line)
Couples: E (likely going to make it to the weekend)
Lehman: -2 after 13 holes (looking good for the weekend
Howell: -4 after 8 holes (in the hunt)
Langer: E after 15 holes (flirting with the cut line)

Barclays Classic Line-Ups

Barclays Classic
June 8-11, 2006

Game of the Week:
Choi's Chums vs The Au Pair Posse - Brothers, bragging rights and the battle for 2nd place in the PGL... how could this match NOT be the GOW?

Other Games:
Long John Holmes vs You take drugs, Danny?
Men with Yellow Hats vs Arjun's Army
The Leopards vs Tommy's Guns

Please post your line-ups in the comments section of this post.

Week #8 Wrap Up

A great set of games to kick off the second half of the PGL season.

Game of the Week:
Long John Holmes over Tommy's Guns (-16 to 14)
The 2nd half of the season started off with a bang as Aaron's team won their eighth straight and have PGL insiders wondering if he can go undefeated (it's never been done in the long and glorious history of the PGL). His was also the only team to score in negative #'s and would have gone even lower if Carl Petersson (the tourney winner) wasn't riding the pine. As a result, we had to invoke the "Kick in the Nuts" clause for the second time (I think?).

Other Games:
Choi's Chums over You take drugs, Danny? (21 to 45) - David was sweating it out as he headed into the weekend, but Jon's team folded down the stretch to keep Choi's Chums in 2nd place.
The Au Pair Posse over Men with Yellow Hats (5 to 9) - Geo's castoff (Immelman) and his choice of a reserve (Wetterich) cause mental anguish in a close one.
Arjun's Army over The Leopards (29 to 42) - Even though Ben Crane exploded to shoot +10 for the tourney and two of Jeff's other guys missed the cut (they each took a +13), Hugh just could piece together a win. With two players missing the cut and the remaining three all over par it turned into just another disappointing week for The Leopards.

Please get add/drop requests in by Tuesday at noon (email me) and I'll confirm pick ups asap so you can get in your picks for The Barclays Classic.
