EDS Byron Nelson Championship

5/2 Update
Week #3 Results:

Game of the Week
Babe squeeked by Aaron (-27 to -26)
For the third week in a row, the GOW loser would have picked up a W over every other owner that week. This one was a nailbiter down the end with Luke Donald (for Aaron) and Scott Verplank (for Babe) dueling down to the last hole. In the end, Verplank hoisted the trophy and with the three bonus points Babe vaulted ahead of Aaron to win by one. What a finish!

Other Games:
Rick upended Jeff (10 to 15)
Hugh kept Andy down (0 to 8)
David topped George (-16 to -8)
Jeremy slipped by Jim (-3 to 2)

Add(Drop):
1. Jim picked up Henrik Stenson (Peter Lonard)
2. Rick picked up Rocco Mediate (Johnson Wagner)

Check out the latest xls via the link on the left.

Verizon Heritage

ok - I'm on vacation this week, so I have a little free time. Given the Monday finish, I thought it would be helpful to crank out the results and expedite the add/drop period. We'll extend the add/drop until midnight EDT today (Tuesday) since we don't have a game this week. Here's the current xls (Jeff willing).

This is a bye week, so line-ups aren't due until next Wednesday at noon.

Game of the Week:
Jim stole one from George (-21 to -20)
I don't like highlighting the same team two weeks in a row (Geo), but this one went back and forth all weekend and deserves GOTW status. Even without Woods in the line-up, Geo's squad was hovering at the top of the leaderboard all weekend. Zach Johnson was running on fumes after The Masters, but still managed a strong tournament. Petersson, Pampling and Ames all flirted with the lead at some point, but in the end it all came down to a glorious Ernie iron on 18 to insure a tap in birdie and a W for the good guys! In the "turnabout's fair play" category, Geo's losing score total would have been enough to beat every other team this week (just like his opponent Babe last week).

Other games:
Rick beat Aaron (-17 to +19)
Justin Rose took the week off at the last minute and Rick slid in #1 reserve Boo Weekley to soundly beat Aaron and go from "kick in the nuts" clause to the winner's circle.
Jeff crushed Andy (+5 to +7)
Jeff is one of two owners still undefeated, but his hold on that spot is tenuous at best. His total score of +95 puts him in second to last in that category... with a loss or two he'll plummet in the standings.
David demolished Hugh (-5 to +3)
Davis Love III disappoints and Hugh goes down.
Babe belittled Jeremy (+26 to +34)
Nearly Jeremy's entire team took the weekend off, with only one playing all four rounds. Babe mopped up even though only two of his player made the cut and posted a combined -1. But in the end, it's always good to win ugly.

Add/Drop order for this week (and next if you want to):
1. Jeremy Ciaccia
2. Andy Katz
3. David Storer
4. Charles "Babe" Adams
5. Aaron Cutler
6. Hugh Richardson
7. Jim Storer
8. George Haines
9. Jeff Cutler
10. Rick Nortz

Please send your add/drop lists to me by end of day today (Tuesday)

=============================

Get ready. The Verizon Heritage is one of the most anticipated tourneys of the year as it sets the stage for first-week flukes to cement their dominance in the league. It's also one of my favorite tourneys as I've played the course. Let me tell you about how I was only about three over through 14 because the course was in such GREAT shape. It was the first pro course I had played in my life - this was 1990 - and my father and I just tore the place up.

Sadly, we were playing twilight so my score was only for 16 holes and I didn't finish the 18th because of a slight yardage miscalculation. You see, when you play such a nice course your usual 145-yard eight iron can miraculously fly about 191 yards into the Atlantic Ocean.

C'est la Vie.

Week #2 Match-ups:

Rick vs Aaron
Andy vs Jeff
David vs Hugh
Jim vs George
Babe vs Jeremy

The current spreadsheet is UP at SPREADSHEET, so you can see where you stand as of today. Also, put your line-ups in the comments here and get your waiver info in to Jim. Don't take Arjun, he's still working on his short, long and putting game.

Welcome to the 2007 PGL Season!

Week #1 Results (download the current xls here)

Game of the Week:

George outlasts Babe 45 to 52
The Arabian Masters survived a Tiger stumble and Petersson fading down the stretch to hold on and beat KJ's Fury in a nail biter. The emergence of Zach Johnson secured the win for Geo. The loss was especially tough for newcomer Babe and he was left chewing the gristle with a total score would have beaten every owner this week. Chalk this one up to veteran experience and a superior draft... wait George wasn't at the draft... and he sent in the World Rankings as his draft list... oh well, I guess it is all blind luck. Sorry Babe.

Other Games:
Aaron nips Andy 55 to 58
Hugh edges Jim 63 to 68
Jeff demolishes (Jeff's word, not mine) David 90 to 99
Rick pounds Jeremy 66 to 83

Add/Drop Order for this week (pls get your pick/s in by Tuesday @ noon):
1. David
2. Jeremy
3. Jim
4. Andy
5. Babe
6. Jeff
7. Rick
8. Hugh
9. Aaron
10. Geo

=================

Great draft tonight guys! And a special thanks to Geo, Hugh and Jeremy... your picks were especially entertaining in the later rounds, when other owners were heard saying things like, "who", "i thought he was dead" and "he was good in 1997."

Thanks to Jeff for tracking the draft and sending along the info already. Please post your line-up for The Masters by posting a comment to this post. Include your five starters, the order of your reserves, and a team name.

If you have any questions, please send me an email.
