Buick Open Line Ups

Hey Guys - I am going to be away this coming weekend and the beginning of the following week, so I'm posting this thread here now. Please submit your lineups for week #14 (The Buick Open, Aug. 3-6, 2006) by commenting in this thread. The field will be set (and available via the link above) on Friday 7/28.

Your picks are due on Wednesday 8/2. Thanks!

Week #13 Wrap Up

Well... this was a wild one... let's break it down.

Long John Holmes rolled over Men with Yellow Hats -29 to -10
George again fell victim to a hot team to claim the Unluckiest Owner of Year Award. Again, he would have beaten every single other team this week with his -10 total. He must have broken a mirror on his way to his new digs in the desert.

Choi's Chums over The Leopards +2 to +13
David blew it and never submitted a lineup this week. As a result, Goosen, Olazabal, and Funk were all ridings the pine while Glover, Choi and Herron all missed the cut. But Hugh couldn't pull it out, with only Verplank playing on the weekend. Sergio made the difference and put David on the verge of the playoffs.

You take drugs, Danny? over Arjun's Army -8 to -1
In another strange one, Jon believed he had no one playing in the Open so he didn't submit a line up. Apparently, he was reading the wrong field even though we supplied the link... In any event, Jeff's ragtag army could only muster -1 and fell into a precarious position heading into the last week of the regular.

Tommy's Guns over The Au Pair Posse -7 to +1
Woods and DiMarco... DiMarco and Woods... this one came down to these two guys on Sunday and Rick took to win with DiMarco hanging close to Tiger down the stretch. Rick's now in charge of his own destiny next week. A win and he's in the playoffs.

Note: In setting lineups for both David (Choi's Chums) and Jon (You Take Drugs Danny?) I went back to their lineups and reserve priority for week #12. The first five guys that played in the Open (based on that order) were declared their starters for the Open. In both cases this left strong guys on the bench, but so be it.

Ok... so where does that leave us for the last week of the regular season?

1. Aaron clinched the #1 seed and I clinched the #2 seed in the playoffs. Both have bye's for the 1st round.
2. No one else clinched a spot in the playoffs.
3. A lot is at stake in week #14.

Long John Holmes vs The Leopards - If Hugh wins, he's in the playoffs. Lose and he needs some help from the next two games.

Choi's Chums vs. Men with Yellow Hats - If either of these guys wins they're pretty much guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. I say "pretty much" because technically even with a win Geo's ticket might be dependent on Cum Score, but he's so far ahead of the field there it will be hard for them to overtake him. David's in with a win.

Arjun's Army vs. Tommy's Guns - If Rick wins, he's in and Jeff is out. If Jeff wins, he's in and Rick might still sneak in based on his point total and other game results.

The Au Pair Posse vs. You take drugs, Danny? - This one doesn't matter a bit.

Clear as mud, eh?

Here's the latest spreadsheet (Jeff willing).

Week #12 Wrap Up

Aaron and I locked up the first round byes this week, although it's still not certain who will hold the #1 seed in the playoffs. The rest of the PGL tightened, with only Jon "on the outside looking in." The next two weeks will be a grind for those most teams as seeding can mean a lot in the playoffs.

Games of the Week

Long John Holmes over Choi's Chums (-25 to 5)
Long John Holmes showed why they're the team to beat in the playoffs as they rolled over a dispirited Choi's Chums.
The Leopards got past Men with Yellow Hats (-5 to 5)
Hugh held on for the win (and family bragging rights) vs George in a squeeker. You've got to wonder what George was thinking starting Baddeley over Pampling... was it something he said? Since "Bads" won the Heritage in April, he's missed five of eight cuts. Over that same time Pampling is 7 for 7 in making cuts. What's up?

Other Games
The Au Pair Posse dismantled Arjun's Army (-46 to 3)
Tommy's Guns eliminated You take drugs, Danny? from the postseason (7 to 27)

We have a week off and then it's off to Royal Liverpool and the British Open.

Here's the latest spreadsheet (Jeff willing).

Policy Discussion: Ties in the Post Season

Please use this thread to discuss ways to break a tie in the post season. I'll start with #1:

1. If one of your players wins that week's tourney, your team is given a -3 point bonus.

Week #11 Wrap Up

The stretch run to the playoffs is on and no one has been eliminated just yet! Aaron clinched a first round bye and I punched my ticket into the postseason this week. Jon is hanging in there and could still sneak into the Big Dance, but he needs some help from the middle of the pack.

Game of the Week:
Long John Holmes TIED Arjun's Army (2 to 2) - Bragging rights in the Cutler household stay with Aaron for now, though Jeff can take solace in the fact that only one of his players made the cut (tournament winner JJ Henry) and he still held on for the tie. Next year he'll get a three point bump for having the winner on his team and win this sort of match.

Other Games:
Tommy's Guns took out Choi's Chums (-1 to 6)
Men with Yellow Hats beat You take drugs, Danny? (-17 to -11) - Note: these scores seem much better than they should... Even though only three players made the cut (total), the lowest scorer in this game was -5, so the remaining eight players took a score of -2. Yuck.
The Au Pair Posse rounded up The Leopards (-8 to -1)

Here's the latest spreadsheet (Jeff willing).
